INAUGURAL SUSTAINABILITY SUKUK WAKALAH ("SUSTAINABILITY SUKUK WAKALAH") ISSUANCE UNDER THE ISLAMIC MEDIUM TERM NOTES PROGRAMME OF RM3.0 BILLION IN NOMINAL VALUE UNDER THE SHARIAH PRINCIPLE OF WAKALAH BI AL-ISTITHMAR ("SUKUK WAKALAH PROGRAMME"), GUARANTEED BY KPJ HEALTHCARE BERHAD

The Board of Directors of KPJ is pleased to announce that it has today, via Point Zone (M) Sdn Bhd, issued its inaugural Sustainability Sukuk Wakalah of RM555.0 million in nominal value pursuant to the Sukuk Wakalah Programme and in accordance with KPJ’s Sustainability Sukuk Framework dated January 2022 (“Sustainability Sukuk Framework”). 

 

The Sukuk Wakalah Programme’s rating of AA-IS(CG) (stable) has been affirmed by MARC Ratings Berhad (“MARC Ratings”) in November 2022. The Sustainability Sukuk Framework has been assigned a rating of Gold by MARC Ratings, as the independent external reviewer, in October 2022.

 

The Sustainability Sukuk Framework and the assessment report by MARC Ratings are published on KPJ’s corporate website at www.kpjhealth.com.my.

 

Proceeds from the issuance shall be utilised by KPJ amongst others to finance and/or refinance (in whole or part), eligible capital expenditures and working capital, existing borrowings, operating expenses and other expenses related to KPJ group’s new or existing healthcare assets, businesses, projects and/or products as defined in the Sustainability Sukuk Framework.

Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (“Maybank IB”) and OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad (“OCBC Al-Amin”) are the Joint Principal Advisers, Joint Lead Arrangers and the Joint Sustainability Structuring Advisers for the Sukuk Wakalah Programme whilst the Joint Lead Managers are Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, Maybank IB and OCBC Al-Amin.
